More winter scenes in the wetlands on the west coast

A suspended sculpture over the wetlands.

We have a surprising number of splendid kauri trees, further south than they usually prefer but happy nonetheless, with pohutukawas in the background.

Kowhai flowers, hanging beautifully and elegantly.

The wetland grasses can be beautiful.

The wetlands grown over with native grasses after a dry spell.

Happy Labradors.

The wetlands are Labrador paradise.

Maimais are often seen among New Zealand wetlands. They are usually primitive wooden structures with corrugated iron roofs, used for duck shooting in the season.

A stand of young but happy totara trees.

More totara trees, still young but developing very well.

Flaxes surround many of the wetlands.

Wetland grasses and a Lab.
